#103 - Quick & Easy Table Topper and Runner
Here's an opportunity to show off those large florals or fun holiday novelty fabrics.
Begin by selecting the main print & then choose two coordinating fabrics for the two
outer borders. This pattern is designed to work well with large prints and both pieced
projects can be adjusted for size. Fabric requirements listed on pattern are for an
18" table topper and a 12" x 33" table runner. |

This pieced table runner goes together fast & works well with medium to small prints.
Choose your main print first & then pick out one or two colors from your main print
and use those for your cobblestones. You can add strip sets to lengthen this runner

This runner uses only two fabrics making it an easy project to select fabric for.
High contrast is very important here. To get the stars to really show off, you need to use two different colors or a dark and a light in the same color family. You can interchange your dark and light fabrics between fabrics A and B, getting a different look each time. Quick cutting and piecing techniques puts this runner together in under an hour. There are many theories on where the classic word phrase "23 Skiddoo" started. Many
regard it as the quintessential silly slang of the roaring twenties, but the phrase appeared a bit earlier, just before World War 1. For this pattern it is recommended that you use a definite Light, Medium, and Dark. Also you will want to use small to medium prints or tone on tones. This runner is completely strip-pieced and goes together in about an hour. Finished sizes are 17" x 47" or 17" x 52".
